Karachi: 3 bandits killed in encounter
KARACHI: Three suspected robbers were killed by the Ferozeabad police on the New MA Jinnah Road on Tuesday, while one of their accomplices was taken into custody in an injured state. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Shahid Hayat Khan of the East Range, while talking to The News, said that a group was robbers was actively involved in house robberies and snatching vehicles in the Ferozeabad area. As a result, he had issued directions to SDPO and SHO of the Ferozeabad Division to expand their intelligence network and increase patrolling.
DIG Hayat said that late on Tuesday night, the same suspects had barged into the house of a trader in Block–II of PECHS and started looting. The police received a tip that the criminals had robbed the house and were trying to flee.
The police intercepted the robbers, who then opened fire at the law enforcers. The bandits then accelerated their car towards the new MA Jinnah Road in a bid to escape.
The police caught up with the suspects near the Jail Chowrangi and after a brief encounter, managed to apprehend four suspects in an injured condition. The police and rescue teams rushed the injured to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), where three of them died, while the remaining suspect, identified as Karim Bux, was in critical condition till the filing of this report.
The DIG added that the police also recovered sophisticated weapons and looted jewellery as well as cash from the possession of the suspects. Moreover, the recovered car was also stolen from the East Range. The accused were wanted by the police in a number of house robberies and vehicle snatching cases.
