Karachi: Bid to smuggle 4.5kg of heroin to London foiled
KARACHI: Foiling an attempt to smuggle a huge quantity of drugs to London via Lahore, the Pakistan Customs’ drug Enforcement Cell seized four–and–a–half kilos of contraband heroin in the wee hours of Wednesday from an airplane set to depart from Jinnah International Airport, Karachi. Qamar Thallo of the Pakistan Customs said the heroin was cleverly concealed in cavities behind the covers of two toilets in the PIA aircraft (flight no. PK–787).
A prosecution case under the Control of Narcotics Substances Act 1997 was registered after the recovery and seizure of the narcotics. Efforts are afoot to apprehend the mafia involved in the offence.
