Court orders case against Okara AC, 3 others; 2 lawyers among 6 booked for beating gatekeeper
OKARA: The Sadr police have registered a case against six people, including two lawyers, for beating the gatekeeper of the DCO office. Muhammad Asghar Khan and Muhammad Riaz Chaudhry advocates entered the DCO office gate on a motorcycle. Zafar Iqbal, the gatekeeper, asked them to park their motorcycle outside the DCO office. They exchanged hot words with the gatekeeper and with their four accomplices beat him up. Later, they forcibly entered the office. On their return, they again exchanged hot words with the gatekeeper and called him names. The gatekeeper lodged a complaint with the administration. Later on the complaint of the administration, a case was registered against the accused under sections 186, 337-A1 and 337–F1 of the PPC.
In retaliation, Muhammad Asghar Khan advocate filed a petition in the court of Additional Sessions Judge Hasnain Qadir, seeking a case against AC Asif Rauf Khan, gatekeeper Zafar Iqbal and naib qasids Ghulam Qadir Khichi and Pervez Hassan. The court directed the Sadr SHO to record statements of the petitioner under section 154 CrPC for registration of a case against the nominated accused. Meanwhile, the DCO Office naib qasids observed a strike and took out a rally on the office premises. They chanted slogans against the highhandedness of the lawyers. The District Bar Association was already on strike on the appeal of the Pakistan Bar Council to express solidarity with the judiciary.
