Karachi: ‘Killer’ of 70 gunned down in encounter
KARACHI: A wanted criminal who had committed 70 murders was killed and 13 men were arrested during an encounter in Shanti Nagar on Thursday, police officials said. The hour and a half long encounter erupted during a house-to-house operation in which law enforcement officials were trying to track down 35–year–old Moosa alias Shahka. Moosa, a high-value target associated with the Lyari gang war group, was shot dead in the ensuing gun battle, after which law enforcers arrested 13 suspects, who included three of Moosa’s accomplices: Mullah Shahid, Amir and Rayees. SDPO Abdul Aziz Baloch was injured during the shootout.
Police said one of the accomplices, Mullah Shahid, is the younger brother of another high-value criminal, Sohail Mullah, while Amir is the uncle of the deceased gangster Kaloo Current. The police recovered six hand grenades, five TT pistols, two 9MM pistols and a number of live bullets from the suspects. The body of the deceased was shifted to the JPMC for legal formalities.
