Karachi: 180 fell prey to targeted killing in June
KARACHI: In the unending incidents of bloodletting 180 innocent people lost their lives during the month of June while many more were injured in Karachi city as target killers have been having a free hand to strike at the place of their liking. A significant number among them were first kidnapped, tortured and then their body bags were thrown on roads. According to reports in the first ten days of June 63 people were shot including 32 who were kidnapped, tortured and then shot dead. From June 11 to 20, 2012, another 72 people lost their lives including 27 who were kidnapped. In the last ten days of June, the situation did not change and 45 more citizens were killed.
Dead bodies of seven members of banned organizations were recovered from Memon Goth, Gudaap and Mangopir area. Sources said investigators failed to find any clue about their deaths.
Eight policemen also lost their lives during the month including a traffic police constable. Surprisingly the police could not ensure appropriate security of Yasin, who was involved in the murder of a policeman and escaped from the custody of Crime Branch West Range.
Meanwhile CID Police Karachi arrested seven target killers and extortionists from different areas of the city on Sunday.
SSP Fiaz Khan said they have admitted killing of eight persons in addition to involvement in acts of extortions and kidnapping. He said the police recovered arms and narcotics from their custody.
