Karachi: 7 nabbed for targeted killings of MQM men, other offences
KARACHI: Crime Investigation Department (CID), Sindh Police, on Sunday claimed to have arrested seven criminals involved in serious offences through separate raids carried out in the metropolis on Sunday. According to SSP Fayyaz Khan, the CID team conducted raids near Johnpur Hotel located at Chamra Chowrangi within the limits of Korangi Industrial Area, Risala, and Jackson police stations and arrested seven suspects allegedly involved in target killing, car lifting, extortion and other offences. He said the detained persons, who were the workers of two different parties, confessed to have killed over half a dozen men, including five Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) activists.
He said the suspects were identified as Hassan Ali, Fahim Akbar, Muhammad Saleem, Abdul Rauf alias Lamba, Muhammad Danish, Azadi Khan and Syed Salik Siraj. The CID also recovered one kalashnikov, six pistols, 32 bullets of different calibers, 500 kilogrammes hashish and two snatched cars from their possession. SSP Khan said that the accused belonged to Muttahida Qaumi Movement–Haqiqi and Sunni Tehreek, adding that further investigation was underway.
