Karachi: Another CID man gunned down
KARACHI: A policeman associated with the Crime Investigation Department (CID) of the Sindh police was gunned down in the SITE area on Saturday, officials said. They said that Sub–Inspector Muhammad Ghufran, 42, was targeted in the SITE area a few minutes after he left his home to visit a general store. The police said that three men on a motorbike fired at him near Haqqani Masjid in Pathan Colony No 2. “The victim was the official in charge of the squad of the CID deputy inspector-general,” said an official at the SITE–A police station.
“He was not a member of the CID’s operational team that usually raids and arrests suspects. But one can never rule out that he was targeted because of his professional contribution.”
In June alone, three personnel of the CID police were gunned in the city, he said, adding that the fresh incident might be part of such killings.
