Lahore: 9,327 Pos, CAs held this year
LAHORE: City Police (Operations Wing) claimed on Sunday to have arrested 9,327 proclaimed offenders (POs) and court absconders (CAs) during the current year. The spokesman said that 720 members of 265 notorious gangs were nabbed during this span of time, while police recovered Rs53 million cash and other stolen valuables from their possession. Similarly, during a special crackdown against narcotics and peddlers, 4,255 culprits were rounded up and 4,170 cases were registered against them. Police recovered 113kg heroine, 551kg charas, 17kg opium, 83kg bhang and 37,291 bottles of liquor from them.
He further said that 3,024 gamblers were arrested from different parts of the City and Rs3.7 million betting money was recovered from them. “Police launched a crackdown against anti–social elements and raided several brothel houses, as a result of which 1,091 culprits were arrested,” he added.
The spokesman said that the City Police, under the supervision of Lahore DIG Muhammad Tahir Rai, had extended its crackdown to the youth involved in wheelies, as well as to loud speakers, price control committees, marriage act and beggary act, and booked 2,904 of them.
