Karachi: KDA official arrested for ‘blasphemy’
KARACHI: An official of the Karachi Development Authority (KDA), Clifton Branch, was arrested for allegedly desecrating the Holy Quran in the Shahra–e–Noorjehan police limits on Tuesday. SDPO Shadman Mohammed Ilyas told The News that Mansoor Iqbal Siddiqui had torched some pages of the holy book. Receiving information from area people, the police reached the spot and rescued the accused, who was being severely thrashed and tortured by an infuriated crowd. An FIR under the blasphemy law has been registered, and investigations are continuing.
