Rawalpindi: Makhdoom Shahab granted bail extension
RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Bench of the Lahore High Court on Tuesday extended the bail of Makhdoom Shahabuddin and Health Department former director general Abdul Rashid Jumma until July 9 in the ephedrine quota case. A two-member bench comprising Justice Ijaz Ahmad and Justice Ali Baqir Najfi asked Shahabuddin to appear before the ANF’s investigation team and record his statement. Shah Khawar, counsel for Shahab, argued the ANF had become partisan in the case as was reflected by the attitude of the investigation officers. He said it appeared that the investigation agencies were crossing their limits to fulfil somebody’s desires.
The counsel said that after bail from the court his client went to the ANF, but the investigation team did not meet him and nobody was ready to record his statement.
He said his client had served as a federal minister thrice and there were no allegations of corruption against him, adding that he had been implicated in a corruption case under a conspiracy.
Shahabuddin said he had gone to the ANF to prove his innocence. He said investigations should be completed before nominating anybody responsible in the case.
