Attock: Manhandling case 10 persons, including 6 policemen, held
ATTOCK: Fatehjang police arrested 10 persons including six police officials of the city police post after registration of a criminal case on allegedly manhandling three brothers, causing serious injuries to them. Police said here on Wednesday that on the orders of district police officer (DPO), Fatehjang police station had registered a case against six police officials – Head Constable Mohammad Afzal, constables Majid Khan, Shehzad Mehmood, Zahid Mehmood, Mohammad Nadeem, Tariq Mehmood besides four employees of the toll tax contractor – Mohammad Ahmed, Jawad, Fahad and Naveed and arrested them.
Incharge of the police post, SI Raja Imtiaz had already been suspended by the DPO.
Meanwhile, medical examination of the injured brothers was carried out at the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital.
It is to mention here that Safdar Hashmi, a resident of Fatehjang, had lodged a complaint with the DPO Hilal Khan last Monday that he along with his family was heading to a bus stand in his brother’s rickshaw when four employees of local General Bus Stand’s fee contractor scuffled with them and later attacked them on rickshaw’s parking fee dispute.
When he and his brothers — Shahid Hashmi and Ajmal Hashmi — went to the nearby Fatehjang police post to seek legal action against the accused persons, some officials of police post also attacked them allegedly at the behest of the rival group.
Later, taking strong exception to the incident, the DPO not only suspended the in charge of police post but also ordered registration of a criminal case.
