Karachi: Dozen gangsters, slayers apprehended in raids
KARACHI: Law enforcers on Wednesday claimed to have arrested about a dozen criminals, including assassins and gangsters, in various raids on different city neighbourhoods. The Special investigation Unit claimed that it arrested three men, including an alleged killer, in a raid on Lines Area. SP Khurram Waris told a news conference that the arrested killer was identified as Zohaib Ahmed. A 7mm rifle, a repeater and a pistol were seized from him. The two other criminals were identified as Nasir and Shahab.
Separately, Anti–Extremist Cell of the Crime Investigation Department (CID) claimed to have apprehended four men associated with Lyari gangster Baba Ladla. According to SSP Chaudhry Aslam Khan, the arrests were made near from Gulbai area of Maripur. The suspects were identified as Faisal, Younus, Hameed and Arsalan. Five kalashnikovs, five pistols, five hand grenades and over hundred bullets were seized from them.
Khan said that the culprits were involved in targeted killings, including those of certain policemen. In another raid on Lines Area, two alleged target killers, namely Rehan aka Dhobi and Saleem aka Tension, were nabbed. Police sources said that Rehan and Saleem were involved in over 300 cases of killings and other crimes. The suspects belonged to a political party but their affiliations were not disclosed.
Separately, Liaquatabad police claimed to have arrested a man and his wife. Police officials said that the man, namely Nadeem, 30, son of Phool Khan, and his wife, namely Ambreen, 32, were involved in various robberies. Looted jewelry was also recovered from them. Police officials said that several cases were registered against the suspects in different police stations.
The officials said that raids were being made for arrest of their four accomplices. A case has been registered against them.
