Karachi: Kidnapping convict gets 3-year imprisonment
KARACHI: Judicial Magistrate (South) Mumtaz Ali Solangi convicted and awarded three years’ imprisonment to a kidnapper, Ghulam Sarwar. The convict had kidnapped a three–year–old boy from Jinnah Hospital on August 17 last year and took him to his home in Sahiwal. However, he was forced by his family members to hand over the child to his parents. Sarwar came back to Karachi and was arrested by the police at Shah Baba’s Mazar near Teen Hatti. The court heard the case against the kidnapper under Section 363/34 of the Criminal Procedure Code and concluded that the prosecution had very rightly proved the case of kidnapping against Ghulam Sarwar.
The court announced three years’ imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs30,000.
The court declared that in default of the payment of fine, the convict would have to face another term of three months’ imprisonment.
Hearing against two ‘target killers’ on July 9
The Judicial Magistrate (East) on Thursday fixed July 9 as the date for hearing against two alleged target killers.
The investigation officer (IO) had earlier informed the court that the two men, Umair and Imran, had murdered Rajab alia Rajoo in May of this year.
According to the IO’s statement, Umair and Imran had kidnapped Rajab from Shahrah-e- Faisal and, after shooting him dead, had chopped his body into several pieces and stuffed it into a gunny bag which they later threw into an empty playground in the Khokrapar area.
A case under section 302 of Criminal Procedure Code was registered in Shahrah–e-Faisal police station.
The IO prayed to the court to allow physical remand of the two accused. The court granted the IO’s request, and ordered for the alleged criminals to be produced on July 9.
