Lahore: CIA inspector ‘frees’ dacoit
LAHORE: A CIA inspector freed a dacoit, allegedly involved in snatching jewellery worth Rs2 million at gunpoint, soon after his arrest, sources in the CIA informed this scribe on Saturday. They said the accused was later arrested by another CIA inspector. “During investigation, the accused confessed that he along with his accomplice Ghazanfar snatched gold ornaments worth Rs2 million from the Dholanwal area in the limits of CIA Nawankot, but was arrested by Inspector Ismaeel,” they added.
The accused alleged that Ismaeel freed him after keeping the looted jewellery with him. It is worth mentioning here that the accused was arrested again by Inspector Rana Haseeb posted at CIA Allama Iqbal Town.
Inspector Ismaeel, who is posted at Okara, was summoned by SP CIA Umar Virk, but the former termed the allegations baseless, adding that he had never arrested the said accused.
However, when contacted, SP Virk clarified that he had initiated inquiry against the accused inspector.
