Rawalpindi: Escape of robbers 3 cops booked
RAWALPINDI: Taking serious notice on the lock-up breaking episode, occurred in Ashraf Town Chowki, a sub police station of Sadiqabad Police Station on Friday, the police authorities, following a departmental inquiry, have ordered to book the police officials, responsible for the occurrence, police sources said. Eventually, an FIR has been lodged with the Sadiqabad Police Station against three officials – two assistant sub inspectors, Ejaz Ahmad (duty officer) and Zahid Iqbal (investigation officer) and Sub–Inspector Mohammad Riaz, in-charge of Ashraf Town Chowki, under sections 223 and 224 PPC and 155–C and D of the Police Order 2002 on the complaint of DSP Mirza Mohammad Jamil Baig, police sources said.
Three robbers escaped from the Sadiqabad police custody in chain after injuring Moharrar of the police station on Friday, one of them, later, re-arrested. Three robbers, identified as Imtiaz, Nasarullah and Junaid, were arrested by the Naval Police, last week when they attempted to rob a house in the Naval Colony and now they were on physical remand with the Sadiqabad police when fled away, police maintained.
The authorities, soon after the occurrence, suspended two assistant sub inspectors (ASIs) – Tahir and Ejaz – for their criminal negligence and ordered a departmental inquiry against ASI Zahid Iqbal (investigation officer), ASI Ejaz Ahmad (duty officer) and Muharrar Khurram Shah.
The sources said that the officials were found guilty in the inquiry and the inquiry officer recommended severe punishment and lodging of criminal case against them.
The police sources said that all the three suspects were taken to Ashraf Town Chowki after getting their physical remand from the court of law before Jumma prayer, adding that most of the cops of the Chowki, when left the sub-police station, they suspected attempted sneak out of the premises of the police station but Moharrar saw them and tried to intercept them but they pushed him away after thrashing him and fled away.
The police said that he informed the authorities about the episode and sought help, adding that the DSP sent force to hunt them down and re–arrested one of them, while two others, Nasrullah and Imtiaz couldn’t be traced out.
