3 awarded death sentence in Haripur
HARIPUR: The Anti–Terrorist Court (ATC) in Abbottabad on Tuesday awarded death sentence to three accused involved in kidnapping and killing a lawyer in Haripur district. The court also ordered confiscation of their moveable and immoveable properties. The court awarded death sentence to policeman Ali Asghar, Muhammad Ibrahim and Muhammad Shehzad along with the fine of Rs500,000 each. The court awarded life sentence to Abdul Halim.
Besides, the court awarded six–month imprisonment to the other accused including Muhammad Ilyas, Muhammad Shehzad, Mumtaz, Fida Ahmed, Delawar Abbas and Asif Khan.
The accused had kidnapped lawyer Yawar Salim on August 26, 2010 and killed him even though his family had paid them ransom for his safe release. The City Police Station had registered the case under Section 365-A against the accused.
