Karachi: Cop killed in shoot-out with robbers
KARACHI: Police constable Mohammad Mushtaq was killed during a shoot–out between Malir City police and a group of robbers in Gharibabad early on Wednesday morning. A police squad was deployed to the Gharibabad area after the Malir City police station received a tip-off at about 6:15am that a band of robbers was looting a residence in the area, a duty officer of the Malir City police station told The News. The suspects opened fire on the police squad as soon as it arrived outside the said house, killing Mushtaq, 45, on the spot and then fled under cover of fire.
Police officials said that they are currently on the lookout for the suspects and that an investigation was being carried out.
Mushtaq hailed from Gujrat and was the only breadwinner in his family, which comprises his wife and two daughters. He used to reside in a police barracks in the Garden area.
