Karachi: 6 extortionists, 4 gangsters arrested
KARACHI: The law enforcement agencies (LEAs) on Saturday claimed to have arrested ten suspects, including six extortionists and four Lyari gangsters besides recovering a huge cache of weapons in separate raids carried out within the metropolis. Six alleged extortionists were apprehended from timber market situated within the limits of Nappier police station. SHO Imdad Khwaja informed that the extortionists were nabbed when they reached timber market to collect ransom from the shopkeepers. The nabbed suspects include Saeed Ullah, Jameel Khan, Ali Muhamamd, Azmat, Sartaj and Naseeb Khan.
Separately, the Anti-Extremism Cell of the Crime Investigation Department claimed to have nabbed four alleged Lyari gangsters in two separate raids carried out at Mauripur truck stand and Ghani Chowrangi besides recovering weapons from their possession. The accused included Nawaz Kausar, Jamsheed Sonara, Rashid and Ghafar. Officials said that the suspects belonged to one of the Lyari gangs and were involved in several heinous crimes, including kidnapping, police encounters, murders and extortion. Further investigation was underway.
