Lahore: Man shoots dead niece over ‘character’
LAHORE: A man shot dead his 16–year–old niece on the suspicion of having illicit relations in the Raiwind City area, police said on Saturday. The police have arrested the killer and are investigating. Muhammad Shabbir shot dead Uzma Bibi at her residence situated at Sundar Road in the limits of the Raiwind City police. Muhammad Ramazan, said to be a head constable in the police, told the police investigators that Shabbir killed his daughter on the suspicion of developing illicit relations with a man of the same area.
The police have registered the case on the complaint of Ramazan, the father of the deceased and brother of the killer. The police have also removed the body to the morgue for autopsy. Further investigations are underway.
Meanwhile, a 50–year–old man was found dead lying alongside a road near vegetable market in the Ravi Road area. The police have removed the dead body, yet to be identified, to the morgue and are investigating.
Also, residents of Jhelum district have appealed to the Punjab inspector general of police to take notice of the police brutality. They alleged that the Mangla Cantt police raided a funeral prayer and tortured women.
A resident of Afghanabad, Javed Iqbal alleged that the police team headed by SHO Raja Lahrasab Hussain raided the funeral procession of his mother, tortured women and arrested his relatives. He also alleged that the police took the action to please his rivals who paid them for this brutality. The victim family has also appealed to the chief justice to take notice of the incident and provide them justice.
