Sukkur: Case registered against 50 rioting prisoners
SUKKUR: A case has been registered against 50 prisoners of Hyderabad Jail on Saturday against their alleged involvement in the jail riots on Friday in which a prisoner had died and many others were injured. Incidentally, the authorities had also nominated the deceased prisoner in the FIR, The News has learnt. The charge-sheet against the accused alleged that the prisoners had attacked the jail staff in order to escape. The prisoners had been charged under sections 324, 427, 342, 353 and 435 CrPC.
Meanwhile, the jail administration had decided to shift around 200 prisoners to different prisons in Sukkur and Khairpur.
The decision was taken after the IG of Jails visited the Hyderabad Jail and held a meeting with the authorities there.
Sources also said that the FC, the Rangers and the jail police had recovered some cell phones from the prisoners during a search operation on Saturday.
The deceased prisoner, Sajid Khaskheli, who was laid to rest in Tando Allahyar on Saturday, had been in the prison for the last two years in connection with a murder case of a landlord.
Meanwhile, prisoners of a sub–jail in Jacobabad protested against the killing of Khaskheli by setting their clothes and some other stuff on fire. They also demanded registration of an FIR against the Hyderabad Jail authorities.
