Rawalpindi: LHC grants pre-arrest bail to Musa, Shahab
RAWALPINDI: A division of the Lahore High Court (LHC), comprising Justice Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah and Justice Ibadur Rehman Lodhi, here on Monday granted interim pre-arrest bail to MNA Ali Musa Gilani, son of former PM Yusuf Raza Gilani, till July 30 in the ephedrine quota case. The LHC Rawalpindi bench granted bail to Musa Gilani against the surety bonds of Rs50,000 and directed the Anti–Narcotics Force to bring the relevant record on the next date of hearing. The bench also extended interim bail of four other accused in the case till July 30. They are: former health minister Makhdoom Shahabuddin, former Deputy Drugs Controller Abdul Sattar Surani, former Health Department director general Dr Rasheed Juma Khan and a former Danas Pharmaceuticals director Rizwan Khan.
Advocate Dr Khalid Ranjha, counsel for Ali Musa Gilani, submitted before the court that his client had been dragged into the controversy due to a political tug of war. “Neither there is any evidence against my client nor is his name mentioned in the FIR,” he added. He said there was no mention of his client in three interim probe reports submitted by the Anti–Narcotics Force to the trial court. “Dr Juma in his statement before the trial has not mentioned the name of my client either,” he added. Talking to reports after court proceedings, Ali Musa Gilani said he had no connection with Tauqeer Ahmad.
