Rawalpindi: Smuggling bid foiled
RAWALPINDI: The city police have foiled a smuggling bid at Wah Cantt by recovering a huge cache of lethal weapons here on Monday. The police also nabbed the smuggler and impounded a Mehran car used for carrying the arms and ammunition; sources said adding that the smuggler was identified as Sharif Ullah hailing from Lakki Marwat. The arms and ammunition, recovered by police included two automatic rifles, 3 pistols and at least 3700 bullets.
According to details, Police Station (PS) Wah Cannt officials, during a routine checking, spotted a suspicious Mehran car and singled it to stop. Upon conducting the course of search, the law enforcers found a huge cache of weapons hide in various parts of the car. The police nabbed the smuggler and also seized arms and ammunitions. A police official, who is the part of the investigating team, told that it was disclosed during probe that the weapons were being smuggled from Peshawar to Abbottabad. A case has also been registered against the accused while further interrogation was on, he added.
