Karachi: Citizens rescue minor girl from abductor
KARACHI: Local residents Tuesday night allegedly rescued a two-and-a–half–year old girl from the clutches of a lunatic abductor, Geo News reported. Reports have it that the abductor, Jehanzeb, reported to be mentally ill, was caught with the little girl from the furniture market near Nagin Chowrangi in the metropolis. The girl was reunited with her parents soon after. Eyewitnesses said the alleged abductor could not come up with a satisfactory answer after he was spotted moving about the furniture market holding the little girl in the crook of his arm.
Enraged, vigilante residents then started giving him a thorough beating, which drew the local police to the scene of commotion.
Jehanzeb was later locked up in the Sharae Noor Jehan Police Station.
According to girl’s parents, the residents of Godhra area, she had gone missing since 8:00 PM in the evening.
“ We left no door unknocked in the neighbourhood searching for her, but she was nowhere to be found”, said the relieved parents thanking the locals for saving their little bundle of joy.
The family of the alleged kidnapper also reached the police station and claimed that Jehanzeb was suffering from some sort of mental disorder and thus he had no idea what he was doing. They also added that Jehanzeb too was missing since last night.
Police have started investigation.
