Rawalpindi: Bid to smuggle heroin foiled
RAWALPINDI: The Anti–Narcotics Force on Tuesday foiled an attempt to smuggle seven–kg heroin to Spain from Islamabad and arrested an air passenger at Benazir Bhutto International Airport. According to the ANF sources, Ghulam Murtaza, a resident of Lahore, was acting suspiciously before checking in at Emirates flight for Dubai, alerting the officials of the ANF who caught hold of him. During baggage search, the staff recovered a large quantity of heroin concealed in the secret cavity of his suitcase.
Later, he was shifted to the police station for further investigation. During interrogation, the he told the police that his destination was Spain via Dubai and Holland. He said he was to deliver the consignment to a person in Spain where he worked at a restaurant as a waiter.
