Rawalpindi: House looted
RAWALPINDI: In one of the biggest robberies, four men looted a family of jewellery worth Rs11.4 million, Rs2 million in cash and electronic goods, police said on Tuesday. Talat Farooq Lone, a resident of Lane No. 6 Peshawar Road, told police said that somebody rang the doorbell of his house. When he opened the door, four persons forced their way into the house and held the inmates at gunpoint. He said the gunmen locked his family members in a room, and made off with jewellery weighing 200 tolas, prize bonds and foreign currency valuing Rs2 million, three BlackBerry phones, five video cameras and five lap-top computers. Besides, the robbers also took away suitcases and clothes lying in the cupboards.
In another incident, three robbers looted Rs280,000 from a shop in Waris Khan police area. Raja Mohsin Raza, a resident of the Civil Line area, told police that four robbers entered his house and took away Rs100,000 cash, diamond earrings and three wrist watches.
