Karachi: SIU told to complete probe in target killing cases
KARACHI: A court ordered the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) on Thursday to complete a probe and produce a suspect facing charges of target killings. The orders came after SIU officials produced the suspect, Faraz Khattri, before the judicial magistrate (East). The judge directed the investigation officer to produce the accused at the next hearing on July 23. Earlier, the court was informed that the alleged killer along with his absconding accomplices had killed several citizens in the limits of a number of police stations, including the Ferozabad police station and the Jamshed Quarters police station.
He along with his absconding suspects was allegedly involved in Lyari gang war crimes. The investigation officer submitted that many cases of murder, attempt to murder, possession of illegal arms and police encounters had been registered against the accused in different police stations.
On Wednesday, an accused, Shahid alias Darinda, was produced on Wednesday before the judicial magistrate (West), who fixed July 23 to hear illegal arms and target killings cases against him. Shahid, detained at the SITE-B police station, is also alleged to have killed many people as part the Lyari gang war. According to the investigation officer, the cases against the accused were also being heard by the ATC (II).
