Sargodha: Babus out to guard accused
SARGODHA: The Punjab Forest Department babus have been protecting the people involved Rs10 million logging scandals in Sargodha Forest Division as no stern action have been taken against the booked officials. The departments have been dragging its feet over the matter though a staggering fraud was pointed out by an official in Bhakkar Sultan. According to him, a group of forest department officials at Bhakkar sold out the most precious trees to the private contractors and issued the damage report of these trees. The Punjab forest secretary had forwarded this inquiry to the DG of Anti Corruption while ten officials, including forest guards and forest officers, were apprehended.
Later, the DG sent the inquiry to the director of ACE Sargodha Division and sought a report. During investigation, the ACE recovered the roots of those trees from the soil. Meanwhile the investigation team also seized bogus record and fake damage reports made by the forest officials. The police arrested forest guards Soba Khan, Muhammad Yasir, Ziaullah, Maskeen Ullah and others in compliance with the directions of Director of ACE Sargodha Division vide order no. 3651/ May 31, 2012. However, the masterminds have not been netted so far
