Karachi: 3 dacoits bite the dust in shootout, 1 flees
KARACHI: Three dacoits were killed while one of their companions succeeded in fleeing under the cover of firing in a shootout in Ali Mohammad Brohi Goth within the remit of the Quaidabad Police Station on Tuesday. According to police officials, the band of dacoits is behind several killings, including those of policemen, besides a number of robberies. They said that during the raid on their hideout, the robbers were asked to surrender, but they attacked the police party, which retaliated, killing three of them, identified as Faisal Siddiqui, Zareef Khan and Omar. Their bodies were sent to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre and later shifted to a morgue. The law enforcers said that raids were being made for the arrest of their fleeing member.
They also said that hospitals were under their radar. An 8mm rifle, a TT pistol and a repeater were seized during the shootout. Meanwhile, law-enforcement agencies detained about half a dozen suspects in raids on Daud Goth and Yousuf Goth in Saeedabad area of Baldia Town.
Police officials said they were tipped off about the presence of Lyari gangsters and operatives of the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) in Baldia Town. The arrested suspects, Ejaz aka Commando, Usman, Mir Aslam and Siraj, were shifted to an undisclosed location for further questioning. Ten hand grenades, four kalashnikovs, three repeaters and three pistols were seized from them.
