Lahore: 5 gangsters arrested
LAHORE: Masti Gate police claimed on Wednesday to have arrested five members of a gang involved in murder, robbery, kidnapping and attempted murder and seized from them cash, jewellery worth Rs2 million and sophisticated weapons. The suspects had been involved in the kidnap–cum–murder of a Kasur-based man and throwing his body in pieces into a river in 2011. City SP (Operations) Multan Khan told a news conference at his office that a police team managed to arrest suspects Mushtaq Masih alias Mushtaqi, Shahbaz Masih, Asif alias Bhola, Muhammad Imran and Naveed Ahmad who had also been involved in snatching foreign and Pakistani currency worth Rs16 million from two citizens near Hafeez Centre in March 2011.
He said Mushtaq, Shahbaz and Asif had murdered their accomplice Ejaz alias Bhalli for demanding more share and got a case registered against their rivals in the Manga Mandi police station.
The SP said the suspects disclosed that they had kidnapped Saleem Bhatti in Ganda Singhwala, killed him and thrown his body parts in the Sutlej.
The suspects further told police they had bribed Ganda Singh SHO Mukhtar Khan not to register a case against them.
The SP said the local police had registered a murder case on July 18 after the confession of the accused, arrested its own SHO and booked him in another case.
