Lahore: FIA books Shahbaz’s secy in ex-LHC CJ’s murder plot
LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Tuesday registered a case against Secretary to the Punjab CM, Dr Tauqeer Shah, and others in connection with the murder-conspiracy case of former LHC chief justice Kh Mohammad Sharif. The FIA has registered the case on the directives of federal government and the FIR was filed by the agency’s Section Officer Hakim Din. It has been learnt that senior officials of the Special Branch Punjab and Civil Defence, and a PML–N activist Talha have also been nominated in the case.
The nominated persons have been accused of an attempt to create a rift between the federal, provincial governments and the judiciary by spreading rumours. The federal government had earlier formed a judicial commission to probe the conspiracy as well.
Meanwhile, a spokesman of the Punjab government said the FIA had registered the case at the behest of Rehman Malik. The spokesman said the provincial government had fully implemented the recommendations made by the Judicial Commission in this regard. The commission had not ordered the registration of an FIR anywhere in its recommendations, he added.
The spokesman said Rehman Malik did not take any action earlier though one-and-a-half years had elapsed since the release of the commission’s report. He said that registration of a case after such a long time clearly reflected bad intentions on the part of Malik. He said that political vendetta and any conspiracy by Rehman Malik would be faced at every forum.
