Karachi: 2 car-lifters among 3 arrested
KARACHI: Three suspects, including two masterminds of an inter-provincial car–lifters gang, were arrested while recovering sophisticated weapons, fake number plates and papers, tracker jammers and two motorcycles, claimed police. This was told by SP Malir Syed Zahid Husain Shah in a press briefing at the Quaidabad police station. He said SHO Quaidabad Amanullah Marwat while snap checking flagged down suspicious pillion riders, who were wearing shawls despite hot weather. When the two did not stop, police chased them and arrested them, later identified as Saddam and Tariq. The police seized a triple–two rifle, instruments to jam trackers, two number plates of Islamabad, fake papers and a stolen motorcycle.
As per initial investigations, the accused snatched cars from posh areas of Karachi and sold them to another group in Larkana from where the cars were supplied across the country.
They submitted to send snatched cars to other areas through putting Islamabad number plates and forging fake papers.
The bike seized from them was snatched from the limits of Sharafi Goth police station. The recovered weapons and material were shown to the media on the occasion.
In a separate action, the police arrested an accused street criminal, Bakht Zaman, and recovered a pistol, ten snatched cell phones and a motorcycle which was stolen from the jurisdiction of Quaidabad police station on July 2.
