Karachi: Neighbour gets life for assaulting, killing boy
KARACHI: Additional District and Sessions Judge Chaudhry Waseem Iqbal awarded life imprisonment to a man for murdering a minor boy after subjecting him to sexual abuse in the year 2009. However, the court acquitted the co-accused in the case as the prosecution could not prove charges against him. According to the prosecution, Aqeel Malik had kidnapped five–year–old Adnan Shah, son of Riasat Shah, and killed him after subjecting him to sexual abuse. Malik then threw his body into a water tank on the rooftop of a building. Riast Shah had lodged a case of the kidnapping of his son on May 2, 2009 with the Korangi Industrial Area (KIA) police, expressing fear that his minor son was kidnapped by his neighbour, Malik.
The police later arrested Malik, who confessed his crime and claimed that he had kidnapped the child at the behest of Dawood Shah. The co-accused was also arrested; however, the prosecution could not prove the charges against him and the court acquitted him.
The judge also imposed a fine of Rs100,000 on the convict under murder charges and a fine of Rs5,000 under unnatural offence charges. In case of default he would have to undergo further seven months’ imprisonment.
