Rawalpindi: 2 security men among 3 held in heroin smuggling bid
RAWALPINDI: Anti–Narcotics Force (ANF) foiled a smuggling bid of 6-kg heroin to Dubai and held two brothers and a passenger at Benazir Bhutto International Islamabad Airport (BBIIAP) on wee hours of Saturday. One of the brothers identified as Amir Yaqoob was associated with Airport Security Force (ASF) while the second brother Arooj Yaqoob was serving in Punjab Police Lahore. Both belonged to Mandibahaudin. The passenger ascertained as Shah Khalid, hails from Abu Bakar Colony, Charsada.
According to source, Arooj Yaqoob handed over a shopping bag carrying 6-kg heroin to his brother Amir Yaqoob from Gamoon Gate of BBIIAP. Later, Amir, who usually imparts duty near the plane, gave this shopper to a passenger Shah Khalid, who was proceeding to Dubai. On getting information, ANF staff conducted a raid and nabbed the three smugglers and shifted them to ANF Headquarter for further investigation.
A case has also been registered, a source added.
