Rawalpindi: Physical remand of 3 cops granted
RAWALPINDI: Duty Judge Ahmed Hasan Ranjha here on Sunday gave one–day physical remand of three cops of Islamabad Police for their alleged role in helping a murder accused escape from the District Headquarters Hospital, Rawalpindi. Rohullah Khan, allegedly involved in the killing of former attorney general of Pakistan, was brought to the District Headquarters Hospital, Rawalpindi, from Adiala Jail for medical check-up. Three cops of the Islamabad Police — Assistant Sub–Inspector (ASI) Ali Syed, Head Constable Muhammad Yaqoob and Constable Tahir Mehmood — were assigned the task of his security, but the accused managed to escape from the hospital in shackles.
The Ganjmandi Police Station had registered an FIR against the three cops. After granting physical remand of the three cops, the court adjourned hearing in the case till today (Monday).
