LAHORE: Two police inspectors and an assistant sub–inspector were booked and arrested on Thursday in connection with the registration of a fake narcotics case and conducting poor investigation of a murder case. A citizen, Abid, complained to DIG (Investigation) Chaudhry Shafique Ahmad that Lower Mall Investigation in charge Ali Ahmad Goraya and ASI Mahboob Ahmad arrested his relative, Arif Ali, on the pretext of checking and booked him in a fake case of recovery of 15kg hashish, 1.4kg opium and a pistol. Arif of Sheikhupura along with his fellows was coming to a court for the hearing of a case when he was arrested.
JHANG: Police have succeeded in busting a notorious inter-district gang that was wanted to the Police of several districts in murder, highway robberies, abduction for ransom, cattle–lifting and other such crimes. Reportedly, all the five members of the gang including ring leader Nasari Baloach were arrested. DPO Jhang Akhtar Omer Hayat Lalika told the media that the gang members have killed one Mansab Dar, a resident of Chak 175, and lifted his cattle. According to details, SHO Mochiwala Police Muhammad Waris with his team chased the gang and arrested all the members including Sabir Shah, Manzar alliance Manzari Baloach, Asif Alliance Asoo Baloach, Muhammad Ali Baloach and Nasar alias Nasari Baloach.
KARACHI: The Karachi police in their on-going drive against criminals, arrested 37 accused during the past 24 hours. A police statement on Thursday said that those arrested included eight absconders and one proclaimed offender. It said that there were five police encounters with the alleged criminals and four gangs of alleged criminals were busted during the period. In all, 22 pistols, one repeater and five mobile phones recovered from the possession of the accused.
BUREWALA: Four dacoits deprived a farmer of motorcycle and cash here in Chak 265/EB last night. As detail, Abdul Hameed Jatt, a resident of Chak 265/EB was going to his village on his motorcycle VRK–2593 when he reached outside his village four armed dacoits intercepted him and snatched his motorcycle and cash. After receiving information local police led by SI Muhammad Anwar started chasing the culprits and arrested Muhammad Imran, a resident of Chak 499/EB and recoverd motorcycle from his possession. On pointing started raids to arrest three of his other accomplices including M Qurban, Muhammad Aamer and Hamid alias Hama.
GUJRANWALA: The Anti–Corruption Establishment (ACE) has arrested eight accused involved in the misappropriation of Rs 7 million in the Gujrat TMA and recovered Rs five million from them. The ACE had booked 14 people, while three are on bail and as many are still absconding. The arrested officials include: TOs Haji Ashraf and Raja Iqbal, engineers Iftikhar and Salim, clerk Muhammad Amin, audit officer Khalid Ibrahim and CCB chairman Kafayat Siddiqui. Contractor Rana Habib, Secretary Taimoor Butt and clerk Asad Butt are on bail till September 10. TO Shiraz, CCB chairman Asad and secretary Mian Shahbaz are still absconding. Raids are being conducted to arrest the remaining accused.
LANDI KOTAL: Security forces on Thursday seized liquor and arrested seven persons in Landi Kotal. Officials said that about 130 bottles of liquor were seized and seven drug dealers were arrested during a raid on a house near Malik Nadar Khan Kalay.
LAHORE: The Punjab Anti–Narcotics Force has foiled two heroin smuggling attempts made by taking timely action and arrested two accused who were going to Greece and Spain from Allama Iqbal Airport on Thursday. The accused were identified as Ghulam Qadir and Abdul Mannan.
CHAKWAL: Police on Thursday arrested two terrorists and recovered a suicide jacket, a hand grenade, 15 detonators, fuse pins and remote control from their possession. The police nabbed the terrorists during routine patrol near Dhok Mastian Village. They were identified as Bahadar Shah and Muhammad Sultan, residents of Dena.
LAHORE: Green Town Passport Office management with the help of local police launched an operation against the agents and touts sitting outside the office and arrested about 12 agents, said a passport officer on Thursday. He said agents were involved in trapping people visiting the passport office on different pretext and bringing bad name to the passport office. Sources disclosed that after London Olympic visa scam the passport office management had become alert to keep eye on irrelevant people roaming around the office. An officer said these agents were involved in misleading the applicants only to mint money from them and some time they were doing this business with connivance of the staff of passport office.
ISLAMABAD: The Sabzi Mandi police of the federal capital on Thursday arrested 42 suspects during search operation in its various localities, including Sector I11 and the slum areas. IG Bani Amin Khan and SSP Yaseen Farooq had directed the operation. As per their directions, teams of Sabzi Mandi police, under the supervision of SP (Industrial Area) Muhammad Ishaq Warraich and ASP Yasir Afridi conducted the search operation and nabbed the suspects.
