Rawalpindi: Police arrest 8 gamblers, 22 outlaws
RAWALPINDI: Saddar Baroni Police in its crackdown against gamblers have arrested eight accused and recovered Rs 14,745 stake money, eight mobile phones and other items from their custody. According to Police spokesman, Saddar Baroni Police, acting on a tip-off, conducted a raid at a gambling den in the area of Sadda Road, Girja and arrested eight gamblers namely Khalid, Javed, Mujtaba, Bahram, Namit, Nawab, Iqbal and Javed red-handed while playing gambling on cards and recovered Rs 14,745 cash stake money, eight mobile phones and other items being used for gambling.
Separate cases have been registered against the accused while further investigation is underway.
Meanwhile, Rawalpindi Police in its ongoing drive against anti-social elements on Tuesday arrested 22 accused for their alleged involvement in carrying illegal weapons, drugs and liquor from different localities.
Police recovered 3633–gram charas, 17 bottles of liquor, seven 30–bore pistols with 19 rounds, one revolver 32–bore, one rifle 12–bore with three rounds and one stolen Toyota Hiace.
Meanwhile, Race Course police on a tip-off conducted a raid and nabbed three suspected dacoits.
According to details, on information that few suspected persons were hiding in Dhoke Banaras area with the intent of robbery, police party raided and arrested Niaz, Zia and Rozi Khan.
A Suzuki pickup and a 30–bore pistol with three rounds were recovered from the accused.
