Rawalpindi: Fraudsters’ arrested
RAWALPINDI: Five fake customs officials were caught red–handed on the Motorway, near Mandra on Wednesday, police said. A motorway inspector spotted a private car with registration plate IDN–3321 on the motorway and five persons in customs’ uniform standing beside it were checking motorists. On finding them suspicious, the motorway inspector asked them to identify themselves as he had never seen such persons from the customs department checking motorists this way.
Responding to the motorway inspector, one of the ‘fake’ customs officials gave his name as Tariq Mehmood and also showed his customs card. On finding them suspicious, he took them to Mandra police station and registered a case against the five fake customs officials on defrauding, cheating and impersonating as customs officials.
The arrested were later identified as Malik Tafiq, Ehsanullah, Shah Nazar, Shaukat Ali and Iftikhar Ahmed. All of the accused belonged to Nowshera.
