Lalamusa: ACE charged 14 with embezzlement
LALAMUSA: The Anti –Corruption Establishment on the report of Tehsil Municipal Authority Gujrat has registered a case against 14 TMA officials allegedly involved in misappropriation of public funds, causing a huge financial loss to the institution. The AEC arrested five of the accused while raids are being conducted for the arrest of the rest of them. The anti-corruption police officials visited TMA office the other day and met TMO–Khurram Tarangi to get more information regarding the case.
Those arrested included XEN–Haji Muhammad Ashraf, SDO Raja Iqbal, Sub–Engineer Iftikhar, Audit officer Iftikhar Ahmed and Auditor Khalid Ibrahim and were shifted from Civil Line Police Station Gujrat to Gujranwala model town police station. The AEC police also got three days physical remand of the accused and started investigation. According to charges levelled by the TMO, as many as Rs6.8 million were paid through bogus payment receipts out of which Rs3.7 has been recovered so for.
