Karachi: 626 fined, 58 jailed for profiteering
KARACHI: The incharge of the Provincial Price Control Cell, established at the Chief Minister House under the directives of Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, said the teams constituted for price control in the province fined 626 people on Saturday. He said 58 people were sent to jail for violating government instructions and indulging in profiteering and overcharging in various districts of the province. An amount of Rs515,410 was also taken from them in fine, said a statement issued here.
It said that 68 people were fined in district Karachi West, 26 in Karachi South, 16 in Malir (Karachi), 84 in Karachi East, 128 in Karachi Central, 14 in Hyderabad, 24 in Badin, five in Jamshoro, 11 in Matiari, 15 in Shaheed Benazirabad, 18 in Tando Allahyar, 25 in Tando Muhammad Khan, 11 in Mirpurkhas, seven in Sanghar, 76 in Tharparkar, nine in Khairpur, 13 in Larkana, 27 in Jacobabad, nine in Kashmore and 13 in Shikarpur.
