Karachi: Bail confirmed in artefacts smuggling case
KARACHI: A sessions court confirmed on Saturday the interim pre–arrest bail of two brothers in the artefacts smuggling case. On July 10, the court had granted interim bail to Atif Butt and Asif Butt against a surety bond of Rs50,000 each. A sessions court (east) confirmed their interim bail pleas after hearing arguments from both sides. The police had arrested driver Zafar and cleaner Asif Majeed and recovered a large number of Gandhara civilisation artefacts during the search of a trailer-mounted container in Korangi on July 6 and also found more artefacts in a warehouse in Korangi on a lead given by the detained suspects. After a few days the police also arrested third suspect Tahir Butt. Later, he was released on bail. They were booked under the Antiquities Act at the Awami Colony police station.
