Lahore: 2 murdered in City
LAHORE: Two people were murdered in as many incidents in different parts of the City on Friday, police said. In the first incident, a 25–year–old youth was stabbed to death by his co-worker during a scuffle at their rented house in the Factory area. The police have arrested the killer and recovered a sharp–edged weapon from his possession. The deceased, later identified as Muhammad Asif, said to be a resident of Bahawalpur, was repeatedly stabbed by Abdul Jabbar, shortly after they exchanged hot words over some issue, which resulted in the brawl.
Police investigators said four workers including Asif, Jabbar, Azeem and Waseem were residing in the rented house in Madina Colony. Jabbar repeatedly stabbed Asif during their scuffle and tried to flee from the crime scene when Azeem and Waseem managed to capture him. They later handed him over to the police.
Asif sustained multiple injuries and was rushed to a local hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead. The police have removed the body to the morgue for autopsy and are investigating. The police have also registered the case against the killer on the complaint of Muhammad Tariq, brother of the deceased.
In another incident, gunmen killed a father of three in the Hanjarwal area and fled away. The deceased, identified as Qari Iqbal, a resident of Amna Park, Canal View, Phase–II, was coming after offering prayer at a nearby mosque when unidentified gunmen opened straight fire at him.
He sustained serious bullet injuries in the chest and was rushed to a local hospital, where he died later. The deceased’s family told the police investigators that Iqbal, a real estate agent in the locality, had developed differences with his business partner, Intizar Hussain. The police have removed the body to the morgue for autopsy and are investigating with no arrest made so far.
