Political worker killed, 5 held in Karachi
KARACHI: An activist of a political party was gunned down in Nazimabad locality. Iqbal Ghauri, 53, son of Abdul Salam, was shot and killed when he along with someone was on the way to somewhere on his motorcycle. Police officials said that the deceased was the active worker of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and was the unit committee member of the MQM Gulbahar Sector. They said that deceased lived in Gulbahar area and at least two armed men riding a motorcycle targeted and killed him in Nazimabad No 2 late on Saturday night. Meanwhile, Anti–Violent Crime Cell claimed to have arrested three suspects. The suspects, according to the officials, were apprehended during a raid at their hideout in Nabi Bux area of Old City, adding that the suspects were involved in the kidnapping of a woman, namely Shumaila, who was also recovered during the raid. The Jamshed Town police also claimed to have arrested two suspects who were later identified as Fayyaz and Laiq after a brief encounter near Guru Mandir.
