Lahore: Doctors get extension in bail
LAHORE: An additional district and sessions court on Monday extended till August 9 the interim bail of eight doctors, accused of committing criminal negligence of removing drip of an infant which caused his death. The doctors allegedly removed the drip of the infant just because they were in a hurry to join the Young Doctors Association (YDA) strike. On Monday, the counsel of the accused informed the court that his clients had nothing to do with the murder of, Fahad, one and a half years old baby, and a false case was registered against them. When the incident took place doctors were in a meeting held at the Services Hospital, he added. The investigation officer told the court that the investigation was under process and would be completed soon. The IO sought more time. The court extended the bail of the doctors till August 9.
According to the FIR registered by Muhammad Afzal, father of the deceased Fahad, in Gawalmandi Police Station under sections 302,427,148,149 of PPC against doctors – Dr Usman, Dr Sulaiman, Dr Adil, Dr Assad, Dr Hannan, Dr Usman-ul-Haq and Dr Tajaml – his son died due to criminal negligence of the doctors. He said that the doctors who were treating his son removed the drip and let him die just because they wanted to join the YDA strike.
He said that his son was critically ill and was in dire need of medical care but doctors turned into butchers and his son died. He said that his son could have survived if the medical staff had cared him, instead of following their heinous agenda for monetary gains.
