Lahore: ‘Taliban leader’ held for demanding extortion
LAHORE: Ravi Road investigation police arrested one Abdul Rizwan alias Janu for demanding heavy money by extortion from an industrialist while posing to be a Taliban leader. Police said a local industrialist, Chaudhary Shahid Hussain, registered a case under Section 29/D of Telegraph Act and Section 387 of PPC in Ravi Road police station that a man who called himself Ameer of Tehrik–e-Taliban had demanded Rs 2.5 million from him and threatened that he would kill him and his family if the money was not paid.
Upon which, a police team was constituted which arrested Abdul Rizwan. SSP Investigation Babar Bakht Qureshi has announced cash award and commendation certificates for the police team.
