Karachi: Lyari body chief, other ‘gangsters’ declared POs
KARACHI: An anti–terrorism court issued on Wednesday life warrants for the arrest of the chief of proscribed People’s Amn Committee and other Lyari ‘gangsters’ in a case pertaining to the murder of two policemen. The investigation officer had charge-sheeted PAC chief Uzair Jan Baloch and alleged gangsters Noor Mohammad alias Baba Ladla, Zafar Baloch, Zahid Ladla, Umar Kachchi, Asif Niazi, Ismail Niazi, Taj Mohammad alias Taju and 21 others under Section 512 (record evidence in absence of accused) of the criminal procedure code in the double murder case.
The court had repeatedly been issuing non–bailable arrest warrants against the suspects and the police claimed that the accused had gone underground and remained untraceable.
After the completion of proceedings under Sections 87 (proclamation for person absconding) and 88 (attachment of property of person absconding) of the CrPC, the ATC–III declared all the suspects as proclaimed offenders and issued life warrants for all the suspects and ordered to keep the file of the case dormant till their arrest.
According to the prosecution, the suspects had attacked a police party during an operation conducted in Lyari early this year, in which two police constables, Asif and Hammad, were killed and other policemen were injured.
A case (FIR 73/12) was registered against the suspects under Sections 302 (premeditated murder), 324 (attempted murder), 353 (criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code at the Kalakot police station.
The court on July 23 had declared the same set of suspects as proclaimed offenders and issued their life warrants in a policeman murder case.
