LAHORE: Airport Security Force (ASF) foiled an attempt to smuggle 1.3 kilograms gold at Allama Iqbal International Airport (AIIA) on Thursday. The ASF found the gold in hand carry luggage of Basit Ali, a resident of Clifton Colony, Lahore who wanted to travel to New York, USA by flight No PK 723. Later, he was handed over to customs officials. Rescue arrangements: Director General Punjab Emergency Service Dr. Rizwan Naseer directed all DEOs to ensure appropriate cover for Youm-e-Shahadat of Hazrat Ali (RA).
In this regard, the Service has already devised a comprehensive contingency strategy to provide efficient pre-hospital emergency cover to the processions’ participants and has established Rescue Posts at Imambargahs and Majalis despite the fact that the Punjab Emergency Service, already running with limited number of Emergency Ambulances, is providing emergency cover to citizens and has successfully rescued over 1.46 million emergency victims while maintaining its average response time of seven minutes and uniform standards in all districts of Punjab.
Director General PES said that no compromise would be acceptable on the delivery of the Service. Furthermore, DEOs were further directed to hold preparedness meetings and provide detailed briefing to all field staff regarding the contingency plan. In this regard, Rescue Mobile Posts & Teams, comprising Emergency Medical, Fire & DERT Rescuers, shall be deputed at different sensitive locations and all emergency ambulances, fire & rescue vehicles with emergency kits shall be available at Rescue Posts in order to provide immediate pre–hospital emergency to Imambargahs, Majalis & processions.
Moreover, the Service has made necessary arrangements to cover the route for any untoward incident. In order to ensure the effective monitoring on Youm-e-Shahadat of Hazrat Ali (RA), the Provincial Monitoring Cell established at Headquarters Lahore is holding videoconference in all districts on daily basis and is functional round the clock and remotely monitoring control rooms through IP based cameras.
