Peshawar: PHC CJ orders probe into gang-rape of girl by cops
PESHAWAR: Chief Justice of Peshawar High Court (PHC) Dost Muhammad Khan on Monday took notice of an alleged gang–rape of a teenaged girl by the police in Mansehra district and ordered judicial inquiry into the incident. He also ordered the judicial magistrate to record statements of the girl and the police officials accused of torturing and raping the girl. He ordered the deputy inspector general of police and commissioner of Hazara division to submit the inquiry report to the high court today.
The DIG Police Hazara has already taken notice of the case after the girl’s statement before a judicial magistrate and suspended Khurshid Khan Tanoli and Rasheed Khan, station house officers (SHO) of the police stations in Mansehra and Kaghan, respectively.
District Police Officer Sher Akbar Khan condemned the incident and stated that an inquiry committee had been constituted and cases were being registered against the suspected police officials. “We will hold an identification parade of officials from both police stations during the inquiry to nab the suspects,” he added.
The chief justice took notice of the case after the Mansehra lawyers demanded judicial inquiry into the alleged gang–rape of the girl by police officials.
