Karachi: Bunda charge-sheeted in kidnapping, illegal arms cases
KARACHI: An alleged target killer, Javed alias Bunda, was charge sheeted in two cases on Wednesday. Bunda, who is facing charges for than a 100 murders, kidnapping and possessing illegal arms, was produced before different courts, which fixed August 28 as the date of the start of his trial. The investigation officer who produced the accused in the court of Judicial Magistrate (II) West Pir Syed Asadullah Shah Rashidi, submitted charge sheets in two cases, one of kidnapping for ransom and another related to possession of illegal arms. Bunda was also allegedly involved in police encounters. He is standing trial in Anti–Terrorism Court No. II, which has ordered him to be kept in judicial remand till August 28.
A team of the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) had arrested the notorious target killing suspect and seized a Kalashnikov and a 9mm pistol in Qasba Colony on July 31.
The investigation officer further informed the court that the accused along with his absconding accomplices had killed dozens of people in the SITE police remit and other areas.
Police say Bunda and some other suspects were involved in extortion cases.
Separately, another accused, Yousuf alias Lahooti, was produced before Judicial Magistrate Pir Syed Asadiullah Shah Rashidi, who fixed August 17 as the date when he will start hearing charges of extortion, attempt to murder, illegal arms and police encounter against him.
The accused was arrested by an SIU team in collaboration with the CIA. Lahooti and his accomplices had demanded Rs5 million in ransom from a factory owner. When the factory owner refused to pay, they tried to kill him in the SITE police limits. His accomplices are at large.
The court handed him over to the SIU on physical remand, and directed that he be produced on August 17.
