Quetta: Van carrying employees’ salary robbed, 2 cops killed
QUETTA: At least two policemen were killed and six other people, including an officer and a bank cashier, injured in an ambush in Bareet area of Awaran district on Wednesday evening. The attackers looted Rs3.8 million from government employees’ salary and took away official weapons of the policemen. According to sources, a vehicle carrying the salary and escorted by police was going to Awaran from Uthal when the attackers opened fire on it.
Inspector Abdullah and Assistant Sub–Inspector Israr were killed. Deputy Superintendent of Police GhousBakhsh was among the injured.
A police official, Noor Ahmed, said the attackers took away four AK–47 rifles and pistols. Three of the injured were in critical condition.
