Bahawalpur: Murder of man by ASI, factory owner
BAHAWALPUR: The widow and relatives of a man, who was tortured to death by ASI Abdul Waheed and a factory owner, have demanded the police high-ups complete the challan of the accused after an impartial probe. Dr Aslam Sheikh, brother of BCCI former president Sheikh Abbas Raza, had registered a case against Babar Shaheen Tufail for issuing a bogus cheque as he had barrowed Rs seven million from them on huge interest. However, he failed to pay the interest.
Later, Dr Sheikh Muhammad Aslam and his brother Sheikh Abbas Raza bribed ASI Abdul Waheed of the Kotwali police who arrested the accused from Kasur. The ASI took the accused to the complainant’s factory on Jhangiwala Road and tortured him to death. Later, the accused threw the body outside the factory.
The Kotwali police had registered a case against Dr Sheikh Muhammad Aslam and ASI Abdul Waheed. However, Abdul Waheed was arrested while Dr Aslam was granted pre–arrest bail by court. Dr Aslam and his brother are allegedly pressuring and offering money to the widow to reach a compromise with them. A couple of days ago, the widow with her six daughters attacked the policemen when she saw the arrested accused Abdul Waheed sitting in the chair. The widow and her relatives have appealed to DPO Sohail Habib Tajik to take notice of policemen’s ‘kindness’ being shown to their former colleague and complete the challan after an impartial probe.
